The vineyards of Burgundy on the paths of UNESCO
On the paths of UNESCO
The Côtes de Nuits and Beaune vineyards have contributed to the reputation of Burgundy wines for nearly two thousand years and continue to be one of the world's benchmarks for great red wines today. Like the wines it produces, grand crus, premier crus and even generic appellations, this unique territory develops strong values of openness, discovery and encounter. A heritage and a unique cultural site shaped by man for more than 20 centuries!
With this new mobile application, discover the climates from the hiking trails that cross them. Around the Butte de Corton and in Santenay…to start. Bourgogne Rando Vignes allows you to walk through the vineyards thanks to its geolocalized mapping. Cultural audio guides, explanations on climates, directional and tourist indications and an augmented reality option accompany you throughout the walk in order to best combine nature and culture. The hiking routes are downloaded in advance in order to navigate with on-board technology and thus avoid any connection problems.
Before putting on your walking shoes, do not hesitate to consult the “discover” slides to familiarize yourself with this notion of Climats which is now in the spotlight with its UNESCO World Heritage listing. Because today, here is a model of viticulture that shines throughout the world, just like the name of certain wines, unclassifiable like that of Romanée-Conti.
But the Côte-d'Or, the heart of Burgundy, also includes:
- Specialties that make the destination's gastronomic reputation, such as Burgundy snails, Dijon mustard, gingerbread, Anise from Flavigny, blackcurrant and all the tables of inspired chefs,
- An exceptional heritage such as Dijon, capital of the Dukes of Burgundy, Beaune, capital of the great wines of Burgundy, Châteauneuf-en-Auxois and Flavigny-sur-Ozerain, Plus Beaux Villages de France, medieval Semur-en-Auxois, Montbard and its naturalist Buffon, the Cistercian abbeys of Fontenay and Cîteaux, the Alésia museum and the famous battle between Caesar and Vercingétorix, Châtillon-sur-Seine and the famous Vix vase…
- A welcoming nature to practice numerous outdoor activities in complete peace and quiet: hiking, cycling, river tourism, swimming, golf, climbing, etc.
Whether you are more into wine, gastronomy, heritage or nature, the Côte-d'Or is made for you.
